Artists, Musicians, Bands, Venues, Promoters, Media, Audiences... you name it, the last three years have been unkind to creatives, performers and their allies. "How the..." are some groups still in existence? MOSES included.
Q1 (January to March) 2023
The first quarter of 2023 has been impossible, stressful, then possible and wonderful as, armed with the "roughs" of astonishing new recordings up their sleeves, the band made it to Texas for their first gigs outside of the UK.
South By South West (SXSW) is one of the biggest entertainment and technology festivals and conferences in the world and the music was whittled down from 7,000 applicants to the Accepted Artists of which MOSES were one.
It came together so last minute like a rock n roll fantasy that it was still unbelievable upon landing at Austin Airport on the 12th March (after the band nearly missed the plane at Heathrow, then get held at Houston while transferring flights!).
They played three shows over the week, met locals and industry, caught fellow musicians, experienced highs, lows, nerves, exuberances and a variety show of weather. Most importantly, they made some new friends.
The engagement factor of huge songs goes international. Amazing that some music fans followed their showcases, sang along and warmed their souls.
Mixing brand new songs and stories into the live set with every song being greeted with appreciative response, shouts of MOSES, dancing and jumping did, indeed, feel unreal but rewarding.
Can't thank everybody enough:
Vancerts, Music Gorilla, End Of The Trail Creative, Richard, George, James and a special shout out to Kelly Munro/MOSES fans for the ongoing faith.
Wanna hear a teaser of the new songs they've been creating with Gavin Monaghan in Magic Garden Studios?
A few clips from SXSW: "a big milestone for us" (MOSES) TikTok video.
The following week, the band's music was being heard by thousands at the Texas Stars sports arena! Their #anthemsallareas deserve to be performed in big spaces. Onwards, then.
Q2 is GO!
The wheels are in motion for Spring/Summer 2023 and into 2024. Two "greatest hits" sounding albums are still streaming strong on Spotify. Adding a third, quite possibly "the crown jewels of rock", into the mix will hopefully make things much more possible for MOSES if the feedback already is anything to go by.
It's not been easy. It has been worth it.
