MOSES get to ROAR

Frankie Goes To Hollywood. MOSES go to Bedford

It's a Saturday night and we're in Esquires, baby! Adventure  outta town, with friends and live music (AND chips!)? Ah, go on then!

A music tourism heritage site, Esquires is a glorious place.

Been there, done-thats include Bloc Party, Echobelly, The Wytches, Mansun, Black Uhuru, Rews, Stereo MCs, Zuzu, Roni Size, Tim Burgess, Bad Manners, Space, LA Salami, Art Brut, The Orb, Art Brut, Lee Scratch Perry, Pigs x7, Dreadzone, Shed Seven, BIS, Ghostpoet, Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip, The Bay Rays, Wedding Present, Altered Images...

Milky has done a great job of promoting the band's first show in Bedford. It's yeeeeeears since I set foot in this place (Bloc Party in the naughties?) it's changed a bit. The converted chapel is still a place of (gig) worship and Room 2 is a state of the (he)art homage to ideal gig spaces. St Jimi of Hendrix was watching over us.

A crafted line up of local indie as special guests, main support, What Follows (back at this venue by request!) are now renamed Half8

The show's openers, CUSP, have already supported the likes of Red Rum Club and The Reytons. They're evidently on a roll:

It's a welcoming atmosphere. Both of these bands have obvious followers in the multi generational (14+ show) crowd.

They leave the stage to roars of applause. It is the ROAR club, after all!

Headliners, MOSES earn their whoops and cheers, too.

As MOSES aren't in any hip scene collective, it's always heart warming to feel a brand new crowd come with them.

Tunes from the second album 'I Still Believe! Do You?' (vinyl released mid September) sounding big and bold, live. There's a brand new tune, 'Storm', getting it's first public airing tonight. I guess all the songs are all new to most of the crowd as this is the band's first time in town but they people sing along to the entire set of anthems.

Yelled back for an encore, MOSES choose 'Waiter' from their first album, 'Almost Everything Is Bullshit' (which some folks get autographed, after their set).

Feedback is superb. "That was an arena show!" being one of my fave quotes among a healthy response from some new friends the band made.

A special thanks to local guides, Chris and Nicky who get the band to Bedford Station in time for the last train to London. Yup, that's the luxury tour bus (!). The after party is to crack open some cold drinks on the knackered 50 mile journey back to London.

Music. What a life! Top night out. Thank you Milky (The Roar Club) & friends... Thank you Leo (bass), Otta (guitar), Matt (drums), Victor (vocals) and the Bedford crowd.
